Profiles
Claim a username, build your public profile, and show the world where you've been.
Every yumo user has a public profile at yumo.com/u/{username}. Your profile is the home for everything you've rated — visits grouped by category and tier, followers, and the people you follow.
Claiming a username
During onboarding (and later from Account → Profile) you can claim a unique handle:
- 3–24 characters, alphanumeric and underscore only.
- Case-insensitive —
Ryan, ryan, andRYANall resolve to the same profile. - First-come-first-served. You can change it later, but the old handle may be reclaimed by someone else.
Until you claim a username your profile URL won't resolve publicly.
Profile fields
From Edit profile you can set:
- Display name — shown alongside your username on every visit and feed card.
- Bio — short tagline, supports line breaks.
- Location — freeform city / region.
- Website — one URL shown as a link on your profile header.
- Avatar — square profile image.
- Cover image — wide banner behind your profile header.
All of these default to public when you fill them in.
Default visit privacy
One of the most important settings on the profile editor is Default visit privacy — the privacy level applied to every new visit you log:
- Public — visible on your profile and in everyone's feed/discover.
- Followers — only accounts that follow you can see it.
- Private — only you can see it.
You can override the privacy on individual visits at any time. Changing the default does not retroactively update visits you've already logged.
Stats
Your profile header shows three running counts:
- Visits — total places you've logged (across all privacy levels, but only public visits are counted from another viewer's perspective).
- Followers — accounts that follow you.
- Following — accounts you follow.
Visits grid
Below the header, your visits render as a grid. Filter by:
- Category — food, attraction, hotel, nightlife, shopping, culture, outdoors, other.
- Tier — loved, fine, disliked.
Sorting within a filter respects your ranking order — best-first inside each tier.
