Chat
Scout, the in-app AI travel assistant — plan trips, pull bookings, and edit boards in one conversation.
Scout is yumo's in-app AI travel assistant. Open it from the chat tab, ask for plans, itinerary tweaks, or bookings in plain language — Scout uses yumo's own MCP tools to actually create and edit trips, vision boards, and lists on your behalf.
Scout is a Pro feature. Free users see the chat tab but hit an upgrade prompt before sending. Everything below assumes an active Pro subscription.
Starting a conversation
Open the Chat tab in the top-level nav to get a full-screen conversation, or click the floating chat trigger on any trip or vision board page to open Scout in a side drawer without losing your place.
Scout reads the page you're on as context:
- On a trip, it knows which trip you mean when you say "add a food-tour event on day 3".
- On a vision board, it can add location cards, materialize the board, or invite collaborators.
- From the main Chat page with no context, it can plan across all your trips.
Messages are ephemeral — they clear when you close the browser. Use New conversation to start fresh mid-session.
What Scout can do
Scout has access to every yumo tool exposed over MCP, plus a few browsing tools:
- Create or edit trips — itinerary events, flights, hotels, transport, bucket list, checklists, shopping, notes, tips, reminders.
- Work with vision boards — add cards, resolve Google Places, react, comment, materialize a board into a trip.
- Search the web — Scout can search and extract pages to bring back place cards, reviews, and images inline.
- Pull booking emails — if you've connected Gmail on the Account page, Scout can run a sync or a targeted search and walk you through confirming candidates.
For the full list, see the MCP tool reference.
Tool approvals
Destructive actions don't run without your OK. Each tool has one of three approval states:
- Auto-approve — Scout runs it without asking. The default for read-only tools (listing, searching, fetching details).
- Ask each time — Scout previews the inputs and waits for you to click Approve before running. The default for most writes.
- Blocked — the tool is removed from Scout's toolbox entirely.
Click the Tool approvals icon in the chat header to review the defaults and override any tool. Overrides are per-account and apply everywhere Scout runs.
You can also flip a single prompt's approval into "auto-approve from now on" directly from the tool-call card — handy once you've seen a pattern work and want to stop being asked.
Safety
Scout refuses instructions that try to exfiltrate data or impersonate other users. If a request is rejected, the assistant shows the reason inline and keeps the conversation going.
